The Tir Na Gael School of Irish Step Dancing was established by Lynn Vancheri McAloon in September, 1989. What started with a primary location in Flushing, Queens has grown to different locations at:

Douglaston, Queens County, Flushing, Queens County, Garden City, Nassau County, Plainview, Nassau County, Holbrook, Suffolk County, Harrison, Westchester County, Brooklyn, Kings County, Commack, Suffolk County

The Tir Na Gael School is comprised of our 200 students. Ages range from 4 through 25 years.

The Students are taught by Lynn Vancheri McAloon, T.C.R.G. and J.R. Vancheri, T.C.R.G. J.R. joined the school in September 1998.

Aside from dancing at feisanna near and far the Tir Na Gael dancers have performed twice at The Joyce Theatre in Manhattan as the invited guests of the Trinity Dance Troup. They have danced at Radio City Music Hall, Symphony Space, Carnagie Hall, and City Hall and are honored every May to be asked to perform at the star-studded, award winning Ellis Island's Medals of Honor Ceremony.

Our dancers actively participate in dancing overseas at The Great Britain Championships, The All-Ireland Championships and The World Championships.

In the 2001 Eastern Regional Oireachtas, The Tir Na Gael School produced four top ten placements and four qualifiers for The World Championships in Belfast, Ireland.

We were honored to meet former Mayor Rudy Guliani in 1999 and 2000 when he twice presented The Tir Na Gael School with the "best youth group award" of Queens at the well attended Little Neck / Douglaston Memorial Day Parade and Review.

In April of 2002, The Maureen Meehan Bakke School of Irish Dancing, located in Brooklyn, became part of the Tir Na Gael School. Maureen has relocated to Maryland.

We are happy and proud to have Maureen's daughter, Maggie Bakke Judge, teaching with us in Brooklyn.
